What is the Course About?
Our BSc (Hons) Applied Social Science degree, validated by the University of Chester, offers an interdisciplinary education in psychology, sociology, and criminology, equipping students with a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, social structures, inequality, media representation and criminal justice systems. This program emphasises real-world applications, preparing graduates to influence policy, conduct impactful research, and address societal challenges. Students gain practical and theoretical knowledge through research, placements and an applied final project ensuring they are ready to drive positive change in diverse professional environments.

What are the days and hours of the course?
Six two-hour modules in year one, three four-hour modules in year two and year three, these will be broken into smaller sections. Plus, your confirmed timetable will be given to you during induction week.
Will I undertake work experience as part of the course?
Yes, in year two there is a work placement module.

If learners wish to specialise in Psychology, they could on completion of the degree, apply for the MSc Psychology (conversion) at the University of Chester. This would allow for learners to gain graduate membership to the British Psychology Society. There are also a range of other postgraduate routes such as Counselling and Postgraduate Certificate in Education that could be followed upon on completion of this degree. Furthermore, skills gained during this degree would be applicable in industries such as human resources and marketing.

All internally assessed through a range of assessment methods e.g. coursework, presentations and essays
Entry requirements
96 UCAS points. Non-Standard Entry considered on transferable skills and experience for applicants over 21 who do not have UCAS point requirements and will undertake a HE Alternative Entry Assessment. (Entry requirements are at the discretion of the Programme Lead).
