Student Council

Every year a Student Council is formed to add to your student experience here at UCM. The Council is made up of students from all areas of UCM, each bringing different skills and ideas.

The Council aims to provide three key services for UCM:

  • provide an enrichment programme of social events and activities
  • fundraise for the Student Emergency Fund
  • provide a voice for all students

Enrichment

The Student Council helps to organise and run events and fundraisers such as International Men's Day and International Women's Day, College Quizes and many more. Anyone can suggest event ideas for the Council to help with organising or running and the Council can also collectively organise, develop and run their own events.

Representation

The Student Council acts as a voice for students, representing the student body, especially in Cross-College non-academic issues.

Why join the student council?

Being part of the Student Council helps students develop valuable personal skills as well as being an impressive addition to a CV or application form, and it may even present opportunities for students to practice professional skills they have learned on their course. Within the Council there are opportunities to specialise in certain areas such as events, student voice, campaigning and administration - all bringing with them a range of employability skills and opportunities to meet new people and make a real difference to UCM life.
