BTEC Level 2 in Business Enterprise

What is the Course About?

The BTEC Level 2 Technical Certificate in Business Enterprise is designed for post-16 learners who are interested in starting a career in business or developing their entrepreneurial skills. This practical, work-related qualification provides a strong foundation in enterprise, helping learners understand how businesses operate and how to develop and pitch their own business ideas.

Learners will explore the world of business through hands-on projects, real-world scenarios, and employer engagement.

What subjects will I study?

The course is made up of four mandatory units:

  • The Business Enterprise Environment

  • Researching a Concept for a New or Revised Product or Service

  • Promoting and Financing an Enterprise Idea

  • Planning and Pitching an Enterprise Idea

In addition, students may have an opportunity to study Maths or English alongside this course.

What are my progression and career options?

The course is ideal for those looking to progress into employment, an apprenticeship, or further study at Level 3.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is a mix of internal and external methods:

Internal Assessment (75%):
Units 2, 3, and 4 are assessed through coursework and practical assignments set and marked by your tutors. These include written reports, presentations, and project work.

External Assessment (25%):
Unit 1 is assessed through an onscreen test set and marked by Pearson. This test evaluates your understanding of the business environment and enterprise principles.

Entry requirements

Three GCSEs at D or above including English or Maths.
