Call for Papers for UCM Annual Research Festival

The key themes for this year’s event are AI & Digital, Sustainability and Wellbeing.

Academics, students and researchers who have conducted or are currently conducting research in these three areas, or related themes are invited to submit their interest in presenting at this year’s Research Festival in October.

Deadline for submission is 30th June 2024.

Gail Corrin, UCM’s Higher Education Manager, who runs the annual event said: ‘Every year the event focusses on topics that are current and significant, globally and locally. We’re always overwhelmed by the high level of research that is being conducted on or about the Island.

‘Since the event started in 2018, we’ve seen some incredible research presented by our lecturing staff, students, local researchers and international academics and we’re confident that this year will see the Research Festival continue to grow.’

The festival is part of Research Vannin which is hosted by UCM in partnership with researchers on and off the Island, and takes a collaborative approach to promoting a vibrant and productive research community through the sharing of resources, events and networking opportunities.

The Research Festival, which is now in its 6th year, offers students, independent researchers and guests alike the opportunity to listen to presentations, participate in research workshops and network over coffee and lunch in the impressive environments of UCM’s Nunnery campus.

The aim of the event is to exchange knowledge and ideas, facilitate collaboration between researchers, on and off-Island, promote the reputation of Island-based research, and to educate.

Research can be showcased in either a presentation or poster format.
