PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES AND NEXT STEPS
Every student's journey is different, and there is no single route to success. Depending on their course and career aspirations, your young person may choose to progress to:
- Continue their studies at UCM
- Continue their studies off-Island
- An apprenticeship
- Employment (don't forget they can keep learning through our Adult Learning courses while they work)
- Professional training and qualifications
Our lecturers, tutors and Student Services team work closely with students to help them understand the opportunities available and make informed decisions about their future.
UNIVERSITY APPLICATIONS AND UCAS SUPPORT
Applying to university can feel overwhelming, but students are supported throughout the process.Support available includes:
- Information, advice and guidance on university options
- UCAS application support
- Personal statement guidance
- Researching courses and institutions
- Advice on student finance and funding
- Support preparing for interviews and admissions processes
Many of our courses carry UCAS points or are a pathway to one of our University Centre courses, and our teams have extensive experience helping students progress successfully to higher education. We encourage students to start researching their options early so they can make informed choices about their future.

CAREERS ADVICE AND EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS
Preparing for the world of work is embedded throughout the student experience at UCM. Students can access careers support including:

Alongside this, students continue developing the transferable skills that employers value, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, organisation and professionalism.

Students can access study support, revision resources and guidance from their lecturers to help them prepare. Additional arrangements may also be available for students who are entitled to examination support.

Completing a course is a significant achievement and one that deserves to be celebrated. Throughout the year we recognise student success through events such as:

These events provide an opportunity for students, families, friends and staff to celebrate hard work, achievement and progression to the next stage of their journey.

COLLECTING CERTIFICATES AND IMPORTANT DEADLINES
Towards the end of their studies, students should pay close attention to key dates and communications from UCM. Important information may include:
- Examination dates
- Assignment submission deadlines
- UCAS deadlines
- Enrolment dates for progression courses
- Graduation and awards event information
- Certificate collection arrangements
Students will receive information about when and how qualifications and certificates can be collected once they have been confirmed by the awarding organisation.
