Ian Britton

Ian Britton is the Academic Registrar at the University of Chester where he has undertaken several roles relating to academic quality and standards since January 2015.

Ian holds a BA in Politics from the University of Liverpool and after graduating, he spent some time working for a Member of Parliament as a constituency caseworker. He moved into Higher Education in 2004, firstly as the Arts & Humanities Faculty Manager at Liverpool Hope University where he worked for several years. Ian then spent a couple of years as the Academic Administrator at Wadham which is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford. After leaving Oxford, he worked in Quality Assurance at Keele University before joining Chester.

 In his role at Chester, Ian has responsibility for overseeing the academic administration and processes for all of the University’s students and ensuring processes for monitoring and enhancing academic quality and standards are robust. Ian's department also has responsibility for coordinating the University’s relationships with its collaborative partners which includes UCM.
