What is the Course About?

Equip yourself with the knowledge, skills and experience for a career in health & social care and with a focus on public health services. Work related experience combined with academic study, this practical and fascinating degree explores fundamental concepts for practice within the health and social care sector.

What subjects will I study?

Subjects include clinical & sociological perspectives, current legislation & policy, research methods, leadership & management in HSC and human growth and development. The Public Health pathway also includes social dimensions of health, public health for health & social care and your final dissertation will have a public health research focus.

What are my progression and career options?

On successful completion, students have used our programmes as a stepping stone into employment in the wider health arena and/or progression to Postgraduate study. Individuals have found fulfilling careers in public and environmental health, teaching, clinical practice, health management and positions within the voluntary sector. Others have used the qualifications to enhance their Continuing Professional Practice and gain valuable experience within the health sector.
