What is the Course About?

Equip yourself with the knowledge, skills and experience for a career in health & social care and with a focus on mental health services. Work related experience combined with academic study, this practical and fascinating degree explores fundamental concepts for practice within the health and social care sector.

What subjects will I study?

Subjects include clinical & sociological perspectives, current legislation & policy, research methods, leadership & management in HSC and human growth and development. The Mental Health Studies pathway also includes promotion of emotional wellbeing, critical perspectives in mental health and your final dissertation will have a mental health research focus.

What are my progression and career options?

On successful completion, students have used our programmes as a stepping stone into employment in the wider health arena and/or progression to Postgraduate study. Individuals have found fulfilling careers in mental health services, public health, teaching, clinical practice, health management and positions within the voluntary sector. Others have used the qualifications to enhance their Continuing Professional Practice and gain valuable experience within the health sector
