What is the Course About?

This is an intensive course where you will be required to attend all the sessions. This course will help you to develop practical skills in providing the relaxing and stress relieving treatment of body massage to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to provide these services to your clients. Underpinning this qualification, you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, as well as client care and communication.

The Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies (VTCT Level 3) is obtained through independent study and completing the relevant online papers to provide you with knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the systems of the human body. This knowledge allows identification of key factors of a healthy body while the pathologies are included in order to identify conditions which may restrict or contra-indicate treatments, and to assist in planning the most appropriate treatment. What are my progression and career options?

Employment in salons worldwide, on cruise ships, or work as mobile or freelance therapist. Alternatively you may also progress to further holistic therapy courses.

How will I be assessed?

Certificate in Swedish Massage (Level 3)

Your assessor will observe a minimum of three practical massage treatments within the Synnova training salon. Case studies will be completed in your own time with a minimum of nine treatments, which must include three clients each receiving three massages, respectively. The underpinning knowledge is assessed through observation and supplemented with online multiple-choice exams, oral questions and written work to produce evidence for your e-portfolio.

Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies (Level 3)

This is assessed through online anatomy and physiology papers and pathology papers to ensure understanding of each system, which must be completed prior to sitting the online exams.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements, however it is necessary to have:

• Good basic English language skills.

• Access to a computer with Internet, to enable you to complete the on-line assessments and to upload evidence to your e-portfolio.

• You will be required to work on each other during class to enable you to develop the necessary practical skills.

You will be required to purchase a uniform and kit to enable you to practice and complete your assessments, and are additional fees for this course
