The Construction industry, which contributes 6% of GDP, is vital to the provision and maintenance of the property and infrastructure required for the Island's continued economic growth. In light of the current economic climate it is more essential than ever to gain skills and qualifications in this area, to improve future prospects and job progression.
This qualification is designed to meet the requirements of today’s Construction Industry and give you the necessary skills and competences to work effectively.
The course is practical and work-related. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course is recognised nationally and internationally as a progression towards professional opportunities within the construction industry. The qualification is approved by the CITB and RICS, the mark of quality which will support students into employment and as they progress throughout their careers.

If you are offered an unconditional place, you will be given your timetable during induction in September.

What are my progression and career options?
Satisfactory completion of the course will allow you to continue your studies at Degree Level and employment as an initial step into professional roles such as quantity surveying, architecture, building surveying, construction management and other construction related disciplines.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by a blend of examinations, coursework, laboratory reports and projects. Self-study is a fundamental part of the course and students are also set assignments that will require extensive research and time management.
Students will have to demonstrate that they can meet a high level of numeracy and literacy, which are integral to this course.
Entry requirements
Entry onto the course requires students to have either 2 A Levels or a National Diploma with merit grade. Students who gain entry by A Level qualifications may be required to complete additional study.
Alternatively applications from experienced construction operatives will be considered on their own merit.
