BSc (Hons) in Accounting & Finance (Starts 24/27)

This specialised degree concentrates on the practical application of accounting and finance theory. The content is designed to allow you to gain major exemptions from the examinations of the key professional accounting bodies in the UK (ICAEW/ CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA).

Lecturers at UCM are members of the professional bodies for their specialist subject and have had experience working here in the island or further afield, bringing the real- world application of theories into the classroom. Close working relationships with the University of Chester and local organisations provide students with varied opportunities for work-based learning.

What subjects will I study?

Two key themes - Financial Accounting and Management Accounting run through each of the three years of study. In addition to this you will study other subjects which are important in understanding how the finance function interacts with other parts of business. These include:

Year 1:

Business Economics, Law & Ethics, Financial Accounting 1, Law and Ethics, Management Accounting 1, Quantitative Methods in Finance.

Year 2:

Financial Accounting 2- financial operations, Management Accounting 2, Managing Finance in a Digital World, Accounting Software and Information Systems, Corporate Finance, Enhancing your Employability through Work Based Learning.

Year 3:

Compulsory:

Financial Accounting 3, Management Accounting 3

Strategic Finance and Accounting, Auditing

Taxation, Business Research Project, Managing Business Performance.
