City & Guilds Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Business Administration – Apprenticeship (September)

What is the Course About?

This part-time apprenticeship course covers the City & Guilds (C&G) NVQ Diploma in Business Administration qualifications. The course lasts two years and requires attendance at UCM for one full day per week for both years. As an apprenticeship course there is support provided by the Department of Education, Sport and Children.

The C&G qualification is for people who are working in administrative support roles in public or private sector organisations and want to improve their administrative and supervisory skills. The MOS qualification develops the skills of using MS Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

What subjects will I study?

The mandatory units for the Diploma in Business Administration are:

• Communicate in a business environment

• Manage personal and professional development

• Manage the work of an administrative function

• Resolve administration problems

The optional units are:

• Create bespoke business documents

• Analyse and present business data

• Manage information systems

• Support environmental sustainability in a business environment

• Manage events

• Manage a project

• Recruitment, selection and induction practice

What are my progression and career options?

It is expected that students will continue within their companies and develop their professional qualifications, depending on the areas they work in.

How will I be assessed?

To pass the course you need to pass every unit that you are taught. Assessments are assignments set by and marked by your lecturer. There will be exams for the MOS units, which are organised for when you are ready to sit them. If you have to re-sit an exam there will be a fee that you have to pay.

Entry requirements

Students must be 18 years old or over and be working.
