Dear HE Student

Face-to-face classes will be suspended from Thursday 7th January 2021

We are writing to you because you have not provided us with a mobile number or email address to contact you with.

The IOM Government has recently announced that from Thursday 7th January 2021, the Isle of Man will move into a 3-week circuit break lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Following this news and to ensure the health and wellbeing of our students, staff and visitors, University College Isle of Man (UCM) will be suspending face-to-face classes and customer-facing operations, unless specified on our website, effective from Thursday 7th January 2021 for three weeks.

This means:

  • All face-to-face teaching is suspended during this time; this includes face-to-face lectures, tutorials and practical sessions. Where possible, classes will instead be done remotely, please contact your lecturer for details.
  • Our customer-facing businesses: Annie Gill Coffee Bar, Cristory’s, Synnova Salon and the refectory will be closed during this time.

Under these circumstances, we are moving our teaching online. Please let us know if you do not have means to obtain your learning resources online (e.g. if you do not have access to a mobile phone with internet, laptop or home computer) and we will do our best to ensure that you will receive your learning materials/tutorials though alternative ways.

If you have any further worries or concerns which are not related to your course, or if the current situation is making you feel anxious, please call Student Services on 400555 or email

Please continue to regularly check our website for updates and information, if you have any queries contact or call 648200. Stay safe and care for one another as we go through another challenging period.

Best wishes,

Jo Pretty

Principal, UCM
