The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the national body for all forms of boating, including dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sports boats, powerboat racing, windsurfing, canal and river boat cruising, and personal watercraft. UCM are currently offering three RYA courses; RYA VHF Radio GMDSS Short Range Certificate, RYA Day Skipper Certificate (Theory) and RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Certificate (Theory).
It has, for some time, been apparent that there is currently a shortage of suitably qualified and experienced Ship Superintendents. In response to this, a successful training programme has been established over the last four years. The training was originally designed for newly appointed Ship Superintendents, however over recent years it has evolved to provide an excellent foundation in all aspects of ship operations. In recognition of this, the programme was included by Lloyds List London as one of the best training programmes of its kind.
