Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy

We have a variety of hairdressing and beauty courses available. Training and assessments are undertaken in the UCM Synnova Salons, with highly qualified tutors who have many years’ experience within the industry. 

We also offer full-time sports courses which provide an exciting insight into the world of health and fitness. A number of roles in the sports industry may also be open to you including assisting in coaching at a Community Sports Club or working as a Sports Development Assistant, Activity Leader or Gym Instructor.   • Beauty Therapy (VTCT NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy)
    ENTRY:

    Three GCSEs, grade D or above, including Science and English.

    ENTRY:

    There are no formal academic entry requirements, although you should have a degree of artistic skill and flair, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude.

    ENTRY:

    You must be employed as a stylist within a salon environment for the 2 year apprentice route.

    You will be required to purchase a uniform and basic kit to enable you to complete the case studies and assessments, and are additional fees for this course.

  • Nail Technology (VTCT Award Level 2)
    ENTRY:
    • Unit N2 Provide Manicure Treatments or equivalent manicure qualification. The NVQ Award in Providing Manicure Services (VTCT Level 2) P1208 course is available at UCM if you do not already hold the relevant qualification.

    • You will need good basic English and communication skills, be dextrous and computer literate.

    Salon uniform and basic kit and equipment are required to enable you to complete your case studies and assessments, and are additional fees for this course.

  • Thermal Auricular Therapy (VTCT Award Level 2) (Starts 21/22)
    ENTRY:
    • There are no formal entry requirements, however, you should be:

  • VTCT Level 2 NVQ Award in Cutting Men's Hair
    ENTRY:

    You should have or be working towards the NVQ level 2 in hairdressing qualification and have a knowledge and understanding of cutting techniques for ladies hairdressing. You should have a degree of artistic skill and flair, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude.

    DURATION: 1 Year

  • VTCT Level 3 Certificates in Swedish Massage and Anatomy & Physiology
    ENTRY:
    • There are no entry requirements, however it is necessary to have:

      • good basic English language skills,

      • access to a computer with Internet, to enable you to complete the on-line assessments and to upload evidence to your e-portfolio.

    You will be required to work on each other during class to enable you to develop the necessary practical skills.

    You will be required to purchase a uniform and kit to enable you to practice and complete your assessments, and are additional fees for this course.
