Education & Training

The education programme area offers two main qualifications.  The first is the Certificate in Education which is a two-year, part-time, teacher training course for teachers in post-14 education and training, offered in partnership with the University of Chester.  The first module is the industry standard award, the 'Introduction to Education and Training' (IET), formerly known as PTLLS and can be studied separately.

We also offer the Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance (TAQA) suite of awards for vocational assessors and people with responsibility for managing the quality assurance of vocational awards.

The team has strong links with local employers in the public, private and third sectors and also trains secondary school teachers in partnership with the Department of Education and Children.  This year the quality of our provision was applauded in UCM’s Governance report as 'A well led initial teacher training programme with a strong focus on pedagogy and evidence-based teaching and learning'.
