What is the Course About?
Vocational Competence Qualification(4270-13)
Vocational Related Qualification (4290-13)
This Level 3 City & Guilds qualification is designed to give students developing a career in the Motor Industry the opportunity to achieve a recognised level of competence. The practical aspect will involve the diagnosis and rectification of complex vehicle faults across all areas. The Level 3 qualification takes one year to complete and the students will attend college one day per week on a part – time day release basis. The delivery of this qualification will take place at the William Kennish building, Greenfield road, Douglas.

Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Engine Faults.
Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Chassis System Faults.
Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Faults.
Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Engine Mechanical Units.
Competency in Diagnosing and Rectifying Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Faults.
Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Engine Faults.
Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Chassis Faults.
Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Auxiliary Electrical Faults.
Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Engine Units.
Knowledge of Diagnosis and Rectification of Light Vehicle Transmission and Driveline Faults.
How will I be assessed?
You will have to complete 5 on-line Knowledge based tests and generate a portfolio of evidence from the practical workshop based tasks, which will have been carried out in the workshop.
Entry requirements
The candidate MUST be employed by a recognised vehicle repairer and have achieved at least 2 GCSE’s Grade D from Mathematics, Science or English or will have successfully achieved a Level Two award that will lead to progression.
